In 2017, Melisa was selected Chair of Argentina’s BALANCE Group, HSBC’s ERG dedicated to supporting the recruitment, development and engagement of colleagues, managers and senior leaders in driving towards a gender-balanced workforce. The Group has undertaken many activities to promote dialogue on gender diversity challenges and progress, including workshops, breakfasts with employees and their daughters and monthly networking walks. Last year Melisa, along with Argentina’s BALANCE members, carried out a challenge of innovation and inclusion in partnership with Junior Achievement: One-day activity with high school students working together in developing ideas for a more inclusive workplace. Melisa has been in charge of Corporate Sales Team for the last three years. Throughout her career in Commercial Banking, she notes that business and finance have historically been men’s areas. She believes it is time to challenge the current paradigm. “If there are some inhibitors taking women away from decision-making positions, we all have to take action to bring them closer, because this is the only way we will be laying the foundations for a sustainable future”, she says.
