Teresa Ko has spoken on many platforms, from the firm’s women’s events celebrating the London Olympics, to the firm’s second ever Global Women Partners Conference when she called for “a mindset change” amongst male colleagues. Her efforts to highlight gender inequality and to champion women and inclusiveness in the workplace are global, having spoken in New York, Hong Kong, and Dusseldorf, to name a few. She regularly coaches aspiring female colleagues with work, career and life issues to help them realise their fullest potential. Teresa also spearheaded the first ever Asia Women Partners Conference in Tokyo this year and helped organise the largest ever women’s networking event in theTokyo office. She is an executive sponsor of the Asia Women’s Network, and hosts female colleagues and client events to mark International Women’s Day. As the first woman to chair the Hong Kong Stock Exchange’s Listing Committee, she initiated the disclosure requirement of listed companies on diversity policies. She was the first to sign up as a founding member, and is on the steering committee, of Hong Kong’s 30% Club, she collaborates often with The Women’s Foundation, and speaks regularly on gender equality.
Salesforce launched its first equal pay assessment in 2015 to determine if men and women were paid equally. It found that some salaries needed adjustment—for both men and women—so Salesforce spent $3M to eliminate statistically significant differences in pay. After a year of record growth, the company ran another pay assessment in 2017 and spent $3M more to close the gap. Marc pledged to evaluate compensation on an ongoing basis to ensure employees are paid consistently. Salesforce also aims to advance high-potential women into leadership roles by requiring 30% of the attendees of every company meeting be women. On behalf of Salesforce, he signed the White House Equal Pay Pledge furthering his and Salesforce’s commitment to equal pay. In April, Marc brought together business, government, and nonprofit and community leaders to honour equality champions at Salesforce’s first ever Equality Awards. The company has also been recognized as a top employer for women on career sites such as Glassdoor and InHerSight.
Rana was elected to the board of directors of Deloitte in the Middle East region in 2015, and is a member of the regional Executive Committee. She is one of the first two women admitted as partner in the history of the firm of over 90 years in 2006, and the first to be elected to its board. She led the creation of a Deloitte women advancement program DRAW in 2007, which is still frequently profiled by global diversity leaders as best practice. It resulted in an increased ratio of women in the firm across Arabian Gulf and other Middle East countries. Rana is an active champion and frequent speaker on women advancement and gender parity in the Middle East and has presented in many other global summits and roundtables. She was appointed by a presidential decree to the National Commission for Lebanese Women, which advises ministries in Lebanon on gender equality laws and practices, and she was elected to its Executive Board. She sits on many advisory boards of leading universities and NGO’s in the region, and is a member of the steering committee for the 30% Club – GCC which aims at increasing the number of women on leadership boards, and on the advisory board of Reach, a non-profit organization in Dubai for mentoring and supporting professional women in the Middle East region.
Cate is Senior Executive Sponsor and founding member of HSBC North America Women’s Connections initiative. She hosts women’s panels on everything from the importance of being clear on what you want from your career to influencing others, and the vital role of sponsors and mentors. During these engagements, she brings together women across sectors and industries, HSBC, the media as well as key clients. As she travels around the world, Cate hosts roundtable discussions with groups of talented females across the bank where they discussed topics like how to tackle difficult conversations with management as well as how to manage work-life balance. She has also held many similar events across EMEA. In the US, she is senior sponsor of ‘Balance’, HSBC’s employee resource group, dedicated to supporting the recruitment, development, enhancement and engagement of a gender-balanced workforce within HSBC. Outside of HSBC, Cate moderated the “Build Your Business, Build Your Brand” event, focusing on women’s career insight and networking. She is active in various national level charities and participates in many International Women’s Day events. In addition to her charity leadership, she was named one of the Top 25 Women to Watch in the American Banker awards.
Jean is a founding member of BNY Mellon’s award-winning Women’s Initiatives Network and served as its Co-chair from 2013 through 2016. She promoted the development of WIN’s global Mentoring and Reverse Mentoring programs, serves as a mentor, both formally and informally, for a number of colleagues, and engages BNY Mellon men to become actively involved with WIN as male allies. She led BNY Mellon’s global focus on International Women’s Day, which has become WIN’s annual marquee event, and shares her career journey at internal events sponsored by WIN. She actively participates as a member of the company’s Diversity & Inclusion Council. Jean is a co-founding member of the Wall Street Women’s Alliance, bringing together senior women’s group leaders in the financial services industry to share best practices, and pilot a new WSWA Cross-company Mentoring Program. She introduced BNY Mellon to the Smart Women Securities organisation across multiple university campuses and frequently speaks at campus events about leadership and her career journey. Jean is a member of the President’s Council at Fordham University and was a former co-chair of Women United in Philanthropy for the United Way in New York City.
Sheri invests a great deal of time in mentoring and coaching colleagues, leading by example in managing work-life balance. She works closely with HR to ensure that the best female talent is being given the chance to come through; her own team is comprised of almost two-thirds female employees. She has been involved with the Women’s Leadership Initiative since it was an informal network in the 1990s, right through its formalisation, and became one of two executive sponsors in 2011. Sheri has been a member of the Healthcare Business Association for over ten years, and has served in an industry advisory nature. She has also shared her perspective in a red carpet interview at the Women of the Year Event and continues to support the development of women through their programming efforts. She participates in and leads initiatives with international charity Dress for Success which helps women with one of the most fundamental barriers to success – what you wear. Similarly, she has focussed on enhancing interview skills with other not-for-profit organisations aimed at developing and supporting women, including GenHERation and Girls on the Run. She has spoken on various panels on gender diversity, and the professional and personal development of female employees.
As a member of Linklaters global executive committee Claudia is the global champion for gender, sponsor of the Female Leadership Programme and through various other initiatives, such as Breakfast@linklaters, supports the enhancement of female talent. She is also a member of the International Board of Women for Expo and for 3 years was President of Valore D. She contributed to the development of “In the Boardroom”, the programme which trained 300 women for board positions and “The CEO School” for women on executive boards. This year, together with Valore D, she launched as ambassador in Italy “Inspiring Girls”, an international program connecting female role models and young girls. In 2017, Claudia was awarded “Lawyer of the Year – Equity Capital Markets” at the Legal Community Awards and was listed first among 30 female Italian leading lawyers by Legal Community. Additionally, she is ranked as “Star Individual” by leading global directory Chambers. Claudia is also Chair of Allianz Italia and Deputy Chair of the Italian Stock Exchange as well as an external member of Politenico Di Milano, the largest technical university in Italy.
During her 30 years at BCG, Miki has consistently championed women within the organization. As the leader of the Women@BCG program in Asia Pacific, she was responsible for running sponsorship, mentorship, training and affiliation initiatives to support the success and satisfaction of BCG’s women. She remains a member of the global Women@BCG Steering Committee. She has authored multiple global studies on women in the workplace on topics such as women’s engagement, ambition and diversity spend. She is a formal mentor to five female partners as a member of the firm’s executive committee, and an informal mentor to many others. Miki has spoken on a panel at the Global Summit of Women in Tokyo, and sat on a “She-Suite” panel at Tina Brown’s Women in the World Summit in New York City, focusing on the challenges and opportunities facing women at the top. She was a panelist at Fortune’s Most Powerful Women Conference in Hong Kong and gave a workshop on women’s engagement and inclusion at TEDWomen. At the World Economic Forum’s Annual Meetings in Davos Miki has participated in a number of forums focused on enhancing success and opportunities for women in business.
Heidi is Chair of the Corporate & Institutional Banking’s (CIB) Diversity & Inclusion Council, driving development of the D&I strategy framework for CIB. She is also a working group member of Standard Chartered’s Global Women’s Network, has participated in numerous global forums/ discussions regarding the work being done with CIB and shared personal experiences and development guidance with the Global Women’s Network. She has hosted external, joint sessions with clients discussing gender diversity, opportunities, and paths for advancement and challenges in various markets and regularly takes on mentees of varying levels of seniority. Heidi has participated in analyst programs to discuss the importance of gender diversity and provide insights into professional development. She is part of the Goal Employability and Entrepreneurship Fund Panel, that assesses and funds innovative projects aiming to enable young women from low-income communities to generate their own incomes. Heidi has held leadership positions on various internal D&I boards, and is regularly featured in the company’s internal communications on D&I.
Peter has been the leading force and champion of diversity and inclusion efforts at Bloomberg, tasking all business leaders with the development and execution of business-specific diversity and inclusion plans. Under this leadership, Bloomberg launched its Financial Services Gender-Equality Index in 2016, a first-of-its-kind index to measure how companies are addressing gender equality in the workplace. He is a champion of the Bloomberg Women’s Community, which hosts global efforts focused on recruiting female talent, increasing leadership development and driving business impact. Peter is also the Founding Chairman of the U.S. 30% Club, which currently consists of 67 members, including Warren Buffett, Sheryl Sandberg and Larry Fink. Under Peter’s leadership, public company members of the U.S. 30% Club have achieved an average of 29% women on their boards, up from 21.9% when the Club launched. Peter serves as a mentor with Catalyst’s Women On Board program. He is also a member of the International Business Council of the World Economic Forum and serves on its Media, Entertainment and Information, Financial Services and Gender Parity Board of Governors.
